The development of modern transport infrastructure requires careful planning at every stage. This includes verifying that foundation systems are ready to support long-term structural demands. For the Iloilo Terminal project, AGES carried out a comprehensive pile testing program to help assess the performance and quality of the installed piles before construction moved forward.
The scope of work included pile dynamic analysis, static load testing, and pile integrity tests, all performed in accordance with internationally recognized ASTM standards. Each testing method contributed different information about the foundation system, giving the project team a more complete understanding of pile performance and quality.
As part of the testing program, dynamic pile testing was conducted to evaluate pile capacity during installation, while static load testing verified how the piles responded under both axial and lateral loading conditions. AGES also performed the low strain integrity test, a pile integrity test commonly used to assess the quality of concrete within precast driven piles by identifying potential irregularities that may not be visible from the surface.
Using multiple testing methods allows project teams to make well-informed decisions based on field data, while supporting quality assurance throughout construction. This approach also helps reduce uncertainties before succeeding phases of work begin.
